Medfield Volunteer Awards

Annually since 2008, the Medfield Foundation has recognized the stellar community service efforts of its residents through the Medfield Foundation Volunteer of the Year award. Today, the Foundation has three awards that honor individuals whose extraordinary efforts and activities have made a marked difference to the quality of life in Medfield:

  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Youth Volunteer of the Year, and
  • Lifetime Achievement (for a volunteer who has dedicated many years to a town cause)


MFI 2014 volunteer award nominees and recipients

The Medfield Foundation, Inc. (MFi) annually recognizes by name as its "Volunteers of the Year," those individual volunteers whose extraordinary efforts and activities have made a special marked difference in the quality of life in Medfield. The volunteer recognition reception will be held at The Center at Medfield from 3:00 - 5:00 PM on March 23, 2014, and is sponsored by the generosity of the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation.

The Volunteers of the Year were suggested by nominations submitted by the public, and the choices are based solely on the information submitted. Past volunteers who were recognized are listed and described below. At the reception, the MFi will honor all the volunteers, including the Volunteer of the Year, the Youth Volunteer of the Year, and the Lifetime Achievement Award winner.

2014 Volunteer Award Nominees

The Medfield Foundation is pleased to announce that this year those Medfield people nominated by their fellow residents for special recognition for his or her extraordinary volunteer efforts are:

Youth Volunteer of the Year:

  • Andrea Nevins for initiating the Miss Amazing Massachusetts event
  • Siddharth Arun for starting and running the Chess Club at the Library
  • Dina Roche for running food drives to benefit the Medfield Food Cupboard
  • Wesley, Corey and Aaron Dron for being great and caring neighbors to a couple needing assistance

Volunteer of the Year:

  • John Thompson for his work with the Medfield State Hospital Mediation Committee
  • Sonja Johanson for her work with the Victory Garden at the Wheelock School
  • Kim Price for her work with the Medfield Coalition for Public Education

Lifetime Achievement Award:

  • Andy Thompson for his work with Little League, Soccer, Lacrosse, Ice Hockey, Boy Scouts, Medfield Park & Recreation Commission and More
